Als zoon van Nationale Boogie Woogie-koning Rob Hoeke kreeg Ruben Hoeke het muziekmaken al van jongs af aan met de paplepel ingegoten. Inmiddels is Ruben zelf een grootheid op zijn instrument: de elektrische gitaar. Je kunt hem gerust plaatsen in het rijtje muzikanten die de Nederblues naar een hoger niveau hebben getild.

Sinds zijn eerste optreden in 1992 toert Ruben Hoeke vrijwel onafgebroken door Nederland. Hij speelde ook op festivals in Denemarken, Duitsland, België, Estland, Ierland, Luxemburg, Curaçao en in de Verenigde Staten, bracht dertien albums uit in verschillende muziekstijlen en deelde het podium met talloze nationale- en internationale topmusici.

Media omschrijven Ruben Hoeke als een ‘stergitarist van wereldklasse’ en ‘een van de grootste eigentijdse Nederlandse gitaristen’. Tijd om Ruben eens uit te nodigen om op het Red Light Jazz festival op te treden.

Vrijdagavond 7 juni is het zo ver. Dan speelt Ruben met zijn band in Casablanca op de Zeedijk. Daar zal hij  onder meer nummers spelen van zijn meesterwerk ‘Sugar’, het in 2007 uitgebrachte debuutalbum van de Ruben Hoeke Band dat toen het bestverkochte Nederlandse R&B album was.

As son of National Boogie Woogie king Rob Hoeke, Ruben Hoeke was taught to make music at an early age. Ruben has now become a celebrity himself on his instrument: the electric guitar. He can easily be placed amongst the musicians who have lifted the Dutch blues to a higher level.

Since his first performance in 1992, he has toured the Netherlands continuously, played at festivals in Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Estonia, USA, Ireland, Luxembourg and Curaçao, released thirteen albums in different musical genres and performed on stage with countless national and international top musicians.
